What No One Told Me About the Early Days of Motherhood

No one warned me how quiet the early days could feel.

Not lonely exactly, just quiet in a way that makes you suddenly very aware of yourself. Your thoughts. Your heart. The weight of loving someone so deeply it almost feels unreal.

There’s so much information out there about motherhood… schedules, milestones, sleep windows, products you “need.” But there are parts no checklist prepares you for.

No one told me how often I would just sit and stare at her.

How time would stretch and blur all at once.

How my body would feel both strong and tender in ways I’d never experienced before.

Some days I feel grounded and sure. Other days I question everything.

And both can exist in the same hour.

I’m learning that motherhood isn’t about having it all figured out, it’s about being present. About responding with gentleness, even when you’re tired. Especially when you’re tired.

This journal isn’t about perfection.

It’s about remembering these moments as they are raw, beautiful, and fleeting.

If you’re in the early days too, I hope you know:

You’re not behind.

You’re not doing it wrong.

You’re becoming.
